A variation of the basic Bechamel sauce with herbs
Ingredients
3 Tbsp - Butter
3 Tbsp - Flour (Maida)
3 cups - Milk
1 small - Onion
To taste - Salt
2 tsp - Black pepper {Kali mirch} (ground)
5 tsp - Chilli flakes
5 tsp - Oregano
Method
Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.
After the butter melts, add the flour and stir continuously on medium flame.
When the flour turns light brown, gradually add the milk and the onion, stirring constantly so that no lumps are formed.
Bring to a boil and add the salt and pepper.
Cook further for a few minutes till it is smooth and slightly thickened.
Add the chilli flakes, the oregano and remove from fire after a minute.
Finally remove and discard the onion.
